Objectives: The mission of the Laboratory of Mechanics (Vibrations and Noise, Mechanical Assays and Materials) is to explore and investigate mechanical properties of various materials (such as metals, polymers, ceramics and composites) under different environments using experimental as well as simulation techniques.
Its main lines of action are:

  •  Support curricular units taught at Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal;
  •  Support scientific research projects and projects in the area of Vibration and Noise, Mechanical and Materials Testing;
  •  Specialized services to industry.

 

Aeronautics Lab

Laboratory Technician: Gonçalo Nuno Pereira Monteiro Torres
Location: room E211
Objectives: The Laboratory of Aeronautics aims to support the specific curricular units of the Aeronautics branch of the degree in Mechanical Engineering and the Professional Technological Course in Aeronautical Production. Also, it provides specialized services to the aeronautics industry.

 

IPS Mobility Lab

Laboratory Manager: José Maia | Paulo Moita
Location: room C206
Objectives: The IPS Mobility Laboratory is dedicated to the study, development and teaching of vehicle related matters, including their mechanical and electrical components. In all the functionalities, it is intended to contemplate the vehicles as a whole but also the individualized systems and components, from power / power and propulsion (mechanical and electrical) to aggregates (mechanics) and command / control (electronics). Also relevant is the development of projects and the transfer of technology to the automotive sector.

 

Innovation LAB (InLAB)

Laboratory Manager: Ricardo Cláudio | Manuel Ferreira | Carlos Fortes
Objectives: Innovation LAB (InLAB) is a space of creativity open to all students, staff and teachers of IPS and IPS network institutions or with specific protocol with ESTSetúbal / IPS.
This space aims to promote innovation and technology among students, being equipped with means that provide activities in the areas of digital manufacturing, electronic, computer numerical control (CNC), 3D scanning and computer aided design (CAD).

Objectives: The mission of the Laboratory of Mechanical Technology (Machining processes, CNC technology, CADCAM programming and Welding technology) is to explore and investigate manufacturing processes in various materials (such as metals, polymers, ceramics and composites) under different environments using experimental as well as simulation techniques.
Its main lines of action are:

  • To support curricular units taught at Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal;
  • To support scientific research projects and projects in the area of Machining processes, CNC technology, CADCAM programming and Welding technology;
  • Specialized services to industry.

 

Metrology and Quality Control Lab (Metrology and Non Destructive Testing)

Objectives:The mission of the Laboratory of Metrology and Quality Control (Metrology and Non Destructive Testing) is to explore and investigate metrological processes and Non Destructive Testing technologies under different environments using experimental applications.
Its main lines of action are:

  • To support curricular units taught at Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal;
  • To support scientific research projects and projects in the area of Metrology and Non Destructive Testing;
  • Specialized services to industry.
