Biography
Tanya Mendes Silveira has a PhD in Geology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Portugal. She has specialized in coastal dynamics, focused in the areas of observation and monitoring, impacts of climate change, coastal planning, and risk assessment. She has worked and collaborated with different entities related to coastal and marine sciences in Portugal and in the US. Between 2017 and 2020 she worked for the Coastal Monitoring and Risk Unit of the Portuguese Environment Agency. She currently works at the Research Vessels and Ocean Observatories Group of the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere and is an external collaborator of the Dom Luiz Institute. Tanya teaches at the School of Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal as guest lecturer and she is a reviewer in several international journals.
