Biography
Fernando Paulo Sebastião Rocha completed his PhD in Sports Science in 2017 at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Beira Interior. He also holds a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition (2009, Egas Moniz Higher Institute of Health Sciences) and in Exercise and Health (2005), and a Bachelor's degree in Sports Science (1998, Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon).
He has published nine scientific articles and a book section, and has received four awards and distinctions. He has participated in two research projects and works in the field of Medical and Health Sciences, with an emphasis on Sports Science and Fitness.
His scientific career highlights topics related to sports performance, martial arts (namely taekwondo), nutrition (including omega-3), aerobic and anaerobic assessment, bone development in adolescents, electromyography, biomechanics applied to cycling, and observational methodologies in training and competition contexts.
Recurring topics in his scientific output include: textile sensors, athletic performance, specific tests (Wingate, Yop-Chagui), technical and kinematic analysis, impact forces, athlete preparation, sports psychology, exercise prescription and coach training.
