Biography
Francisco Carreira has been a professor at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management (Portugal) from 1987 to 1995, teaching in the fields of financial accounting, management accounting, and auditing. Since 1995, he has held a faculty position at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (Portugal), where he lectures in financial accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial information.
He holds the academic title of Agregado, a PhD in Economic and Business Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain), as well as a Master’s degree and a Bachelor's degree in Management from the Higher Institute of Economics and Management.
Francisco Carreira is an active member of the Research Center for Business Sciences (Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal) and the Research Center in Accounting and Taxation (Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave), both based in Portugal. He has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters in areas such as green taxation, auditing, financial reporting, social responsibility, ethics, and the role of accountants.
He serves as a reviewer for various academic journals and scientific conferences, and participates in examination boards for public PhD and Master’s degree defenses. Additionally, he is an expert evaluator for the Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES).
At the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, he has held leadership roles including Vice-President of the Scientific Council and Deputy Director of the School of Business Sciences.
