Lidia Soraya Barreto Marôpo

Biography

Lidia Marôpo is an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, Portugal, and a Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences (CICS.NOVA) at NOVA University Lisbon. She holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from NOVA University Lisbon (2010), where she also carried out postdoctoral research on youth media audiences (2011–2012), both supported by individual grants from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

Her research primarily explores the relationship between children, young people, and the media, with a particular emphasis on digital culture in recent years. She has been involved in international projects and research networks, including the COST Actions Transforming Audiences and ySKILLS.

Her work has been published nationally and internationally in leading journals such as the Journal of Children and Media and Communication & Society, as well as in edited volumes with publishers including Palgrave and Routledge.
