Falls are one of the main causes of early mortality, morbidity, disability, dependence and institutionalization in the elderly population. The guidelines suggest multifactorial interventions, adjusted to individual risk factors, but when they exist, the programs are standardized, independent of the risk level and with long-term adherence problems. In the Project + Saúde com Movimento, implemented in 2018-19, a screening and stratification of the risk of falls in elderly people in the parishes of Sado, Gâmbia, Pontes and Alto da Guerra was carried out, with an intervention being implemented with users in the lower and medium risk. This intervention has demonstrated clinical and social benefits for both the self and the community. This project aims to develop and investigate the effect of an intervention program that combines the exercise component and the cognitive-behavioral component in an integrated individual approach, according to stratified risk, in reducing the number of risk factors for falls, in the elderly population, as well as in cognitive, psychological and psychosocial factors that act as barriers to adherence (eg risk perception, self-efficacy, motivation, beliefs). The project will make it possible to extend screening and intervention to high-risk users and to areas in the district of Setúbal where the need is identified, but responses are scarce or non-existent.
