Biography
Ana J. Mendes is the Professor Assistant of the Information Systems Department at the Escola Superior de Ciências Empresariais (ESCE) of the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (IPS) and has been a lecturer at this institute since 1997. In 2012 obtained a PhD in Management (pre-Bologna PhD in Information Systems) in the Information Systems area from the Universidade de Évora. Completed her Master's in Information Systems Management at the Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa in 2000. Graduated in Statistics and Information Management from the Instituto Superior de Estatística e Gestão de Informação of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 1995. She is currently a co-responsible researcher for the Sines Nexus project, within the scope of the Digital and Green Transition Agenda, PRR. Has participated as a researcher in 2 research projects, funded by FCT, related to the digitalisation of urban water infrastructure. Co-authored 5 books, 2 book chapters and 2 articles in international journals and 1 in a national journal. The main research areas are Information Systems, Information Systems Architecture. Digitalisation, Business Intelligence, Data Mining and Big Data. Has supervised several Master's dissertations. At ESCE/IPS is a Course Director of the Master's programme in Data Science for Business. She is a member of the IPS Conselho Geral and the ESCE Technical-Scientific Council. She was Chair of the Information Systems Department (2010-2012) (2020-2022) and is Vice-Chair of the Department (2022-2024), having also been a member of the Pedagogical Council, Scientific Council and Assembleia de Representantes of ESCE/IPS.
