Biography

Cristina Oliveira is a researcher and professor in the field of Civil Engineering, holding a 5-year degree in Civil Engineering, an MSc. in Structural Engineering, and a PhD. in Civil Engineering from Lisbon University, Portugal. She further expanded her expertise through a Post-Doc Research at Aveiro University, Portugal.

With a professional background, Cristina Oliveira spent 3 years as a consultant and designer in a structural design company. Subsequently, she held scholarships at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon University, for 5 years, at Kyoto University, Japan, for 2 years, and at Aveiro University, Portugal, for 3 years. Her academic journey also includes serving as an invited adjunct professor in the Civil Engineering Department at the Barreiro School of Technology, Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS), from 2009 to 2012. Since 2012, she has continued as an adjunct professor at the same institution.

Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Cristina Oliveira actively engages in various institutional activities, holding positions such as a member of the Technical-Scientific Council and the Representative Council at Barreiro School of Technology. Her involvement extends to 2 international seismic engineering projects and 1 international education research project.

She has published 2 articles in international journals, 32 national and international conference papers, and 4 book chapters. She received a scientific award from IABSE. She has also mentored and supervised several master's dissertations. She has participated in 4 post-earthquake missions, numerous newspaper articles, and TV appearances on seismic engineering. Her primary research interests encompass control algorithms, vulnerability assessment, seismic strengthening, and seismic analysis.
